Maria + Alvin are a sweet couple that found us all the way from San Francisco! In fact, we will be shooting their wedding at the beginning of August there. They made a trip down to SoCal and booked an engagement session with us and since they were in San Diego we decided to shoot at Balboa Park. There is something that most photographers love about this location, for me I feel like it brings out my romantic side. I really felt like it fit Maria + Alvin very well.

We also spent that afternoon with my lovely sister Nicole DeAnne, she decided to travel down to San Diego with us as Maria had hired Nicole DeAnne to do her hair and make up, nice work sister!!!

Are you kidding me with the 6th one down!? where's the light coming from? I see the shadows behind them but from what source of light? Mysterious you are. You know, they warned me about you two. They said I should stay away from you and all your witch craft, but I find myself more intrigued every single time you post. We're shooting Balboa park on Monday...we'll try not to screw it up.

I met Lin + Jonathan through their sweet wedding coordinator Carolyn Chen from The Special Day, Inc. I always feel so flattered when wedding coordinators refer me because I realize the large amounts of vendors coordinators work with on a day-to-day basis and to be referred among the many is a huge deal in my eyes!

Lin + Jonathan were married on May 16th at The Ritz Carlton in Laguna Niguel. The weather was slightly overcast, but ended up working to our advantage. Justin and I had a great day with this sweet couple. We didn't really know what to expect since the couple had been traveling from China and we weren't able to book an engagement session, so we were super happy with the day's turn-out at the end of the night. Here are some of the highlights from their wedding day:

lj_wed006.jpgA quick intimate shot of Lin's father giving her away.
lj_wed007.jpglj_wed008.jpgJonathan surpised Lin with two things during the ceremony: 1. doves that were set free at then end of their vows and....
lj_wed009.jpg2. An airplane that flew by with a banner.
lj_wed010.jpgAn amazing detail shot by Justin of the sun rays peaking their way out of the clouds...I want to enlarge this and print it off for somewhere in my house:)

lj_wed023.jpglj_wed024.jpglj_wed025.jpgI especially enjoyed the live big band Lin + Jonathan hired for entertainment at their reception, it added so much to the character of the night...Pat Longo, loved you!

Thanks again to Lin + Jonathan! Don't forget to check out their online slideshow by clicking here. Also, I wanted to leave you all with a fun email I received from Lin just a few days after their wedding:
Hi Amelia!

How are you doing? :)  Thank you so much for your wonderful work at our wedding.  Jonathan kept on saying "Amelia's work is the best part of the wedding" "It was so worth it!"  afterwards. :)

thank you!!

Lin

WOW!! What!!! I'm the first to put up a comment, what a treat. Well Lin is for sure right.. being that I was there, that your work is the best part of the wedding. And YES, that picture that Justin took of the sun rays coming thru the clouds was re-donk-u-las!!! Keep rocking Amelia Lyon!

I'd be so afraid that the doves would get nervous and unload on a guest. What if you got a bill in the mail for some dry cleaning because it was your fault that the doves came out and went terd on someone. Oh man! I love that dove shot though. Maybe I should rent some doves for our next date night. We like walk out of a sushi joint and 12 doves are released. Awesome. Where do the doves go? Are they like a throw away camera? You use them once and then...BOOM, gone?!
