Last month, while we were in Las Vegas, we had the saaa-weeeet opportunity to photograph the ever so talented Mindy + Ben of Studio 6.23! Mindy emailed me to set up the session a few months prior. When Justin and I met them at WPPI, we had a blast getting to know them as bright, playful, hilarious, photogenic, and super cool people to hang with!

When I officially found out about my beautiful sister in law Jill being pregnant (I had a hunch long before she spilled the beans;) ), I was SO ecstatic! Kenny + Jill are ready to be parents and it's completely adorable to see them both with that "pregnancy glow".
Jill came to me and pitched her + Kenny's idea of their pregnancy shoot and I thought it was PERFECT for them! It involved a duffy boat (thank you Candice Brooke for hooking that up and thank you to Mark for driving us around), the Huntington Harbor, bathing suits, and a paddle board. P.S. only Jill could pull off a bathing suit nearly nine months pregnant and look amazing while doing it (and she worked her little rear end off exercising during the whole pregnancy, so she deserves that compliment)!
Jill is due this Friday...I CAN'T WAIT to meet their little one and actually find out whether it's a boy or a girl, Kenny + Jill decided to be surprised, it's exciting!
Nicole + Jill's baby shower photos are coming up shortly, I had a ton of fun working with family putting on these showers and I would love to show them off, so keep a look out.

I love their placement in the rule of 3rds. the water draws your eye right to unexpected. a beautiful pregnant couple in the middle of a harbor on a paddle board. ROCKS. Also the 2 verticals: 1. Jill with the vertical on the boat and 2. the next vertical with sun flare on them. Looks like a nautical fashion shoot. Awesome job!!!!

The color of this engagement session truly brightens my day! Scott + Ashley were rockstars in front of my camera! I actually knew Scott's sister and mom a looooong time ago when we all worked together in the retail store of Ralph Lauren...yes, I use to work retail! Anyway, this engagement session makes me happy, enjoy. :)
Scott + Ashley are due to tie the knot in June!

Meet my beautiful cousin Heather and her new handsome husband James! Heather + James have known each other ever since they were little tykes! A few years after high school they fell in love, James left to serve a two year church mission in Chile Santiago, Heather waited for him, James came home, proposed, now they get to be married!:) I love their story...it's definitely one of patience and endurance, and displays genuine passion.
Heather + James were married at the LDS Temple in Santa Monica, the details of their day were nothing short of amazing..seriously! I'm going to take a moment (ahem...clear my throat) to brag about my family and how well they can pull together to put on a amazing wedding. Many may already know that I basically grew up in the wedding industry with my grandparents who started a catering company and opened up a gown shop in the 1950's. Now, fifty plus years later, I have uncles and cousins that cater, cousins that are amazing florists, make-up artists, dj's, bakers, photographers, ALL family! You name it, we got it and we do it for the wedding industry!! Anyway, Heather + James' wedding really showed the beauty of family pulling together to make their day a dream come true (plus, James' dad and grandpa can make some killer meatballs)!

Justin and I officially became parents of a five year old on Easter Sunday (4.04.10)! How in the world did 5 years go by so fast?! I think back on how much our Hudson has grown and am constantly blown away by his bright spirit, energetic personality, imagination, and wittiness...he's a pretty smart kid (I can say that...I'm his mother)!
1. LOVES playing Mario Brothers and Mario Kart on the Wii
2. is super helpful to mommy and daddy
3. is really into Legos, Star Wars, and dinosaurs
4. knows exactly how to make his little brother laugh at the drop of a hat
5. has two best friends at pre-school, Logan & Zachary
6. still has a make believe pet cow named "Mc-Mooey"
7. also has an imaginary friend named "Tyler"
8. is better at Mario Kart than mommy and almost as good as daddy
9. favorite ice-cream is mint-n-chip
10. always is fighting with mommy & daddy about who gets to style his hair & what he wants to wear ;)
11. is learning how to be a super rad reader and is getting better at writing every day
12. likes to ask A TON of questions
13. some of his favorite bands include: Black Eyed Peas, Phoenix, Miike Snow, & Vampire Weekend
14. loves to have dance parties with mommy, daddy, and "Sloanie" everyday
15. always reminds the family to say prayers
16. only likes to eat the frosting off the tops of cupcakes
17. best friends outside of school: Maddux, Grace, & Finn
18. knows how to draw really awesome looking stick-people
19. is really good at memorizing and singing lyrics to his favorite songs
20. is okay with eating all of his fruits and vegetables so he can grow up big "just like dada"
We had a fun Star Wars themed birthday party for Hudson the next day, click here to see the madness! *Note - in these photos Hudson is still wearing the yellow "Mt. View" vintage yellow t-shirt we found for him while shopping on Melrose...it's now his favorite thing to wear and I thought, "what the heck, it's his birthday and if he wants to wear it two days in a row then he can." :)
